How to read a memecoin safety scan: every check explained
By Blockchain Lab · Published 12 Oct 2026 · Updated 2 Nov 2026
Every token page on memecoin.markets shows a stored safety scan and a button to run a fresh one in your browser. This guide explains each check, which free source it uses, and how to read the result. 148 ranked tokens currently have a stored scan.
Hard checks vs soft checks
A hard check can fail a token on its own (for example a live freeze authority or a honeypot). A soft check adds context (token age, socials, boosts) but never fails a token by itself.
The checks
- Mint authority — can new supply be created? Read directly from the Solana mint account. See mint and freeze authority explained.
- Freeze authority — can holders be frozen?
- Token-2022 extensions — permanent delegate, transfer hook, transfer fee.
- Honeypot / tax (EVM) — honeypot.is, GoPlus and an on-chain buy/sell
eth_call. See what is a honeypot token. - Holder concentration — top-10 share excluding pools.
- Liquidity — total DEX liquidity; see liquidity locks explained.
- Sell route — a Jupiter quote (Solana) proves a sell path exists.
Verdicts
CLEAR, DESK_PASS, INCOMPLETE and FAIL are defined in the methodology. A pass is never a buy signal.

FAQ
What do CLEAR, DESK_PASS, INCOMPLETE and FAIL mean?
CLEAR: every hard check measured and passed. DESK_PASS: no measured hard fail but some checks unmeasured. INCOMPLETE: not enough evidence. FAIL: at least one measured hard fail.
Why do big memecoins sometimes FAIL?
Often because a mint or freeze authority is still live, or holders are very concentrated. That is a real risk even for large tokens.
