Social tariffs

Many UK providers offer social tariffs: cheaper broadband for people who get certain benefits, such as Universal Credit or Pension Credit. They usually cost much less than standard deals, and many have no exit fee.

Who can get one

Each provider sets its own rules. Common qualifying benefits include Universal Credit, Pension Credit, Jobseeker's Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance, and Income Support.

How to get one

• Ask your current provider. You can often move to its social tariff without paying an exit fee. Check with the provider.
• Ofcom keeps a list of available social tariffs.
• When you get a price, add it here as a quote to see the total cost against your current deal.
