Many broadband contracts include a price rise every year, usually in March or April.
Ofcom banned inflation-linked and percentage-based price rises in new phone, broadband and pay-TV contracts from 17 January 2025. Any rise written into a contract must now be shown upfront, prominently, in pounds and pence, with the date it takes effect.
Contracts signed before 17 January 2025 may still contain inflation-linked or percentage rises.
If a provider increases your price beyond what was set out when you signed, it must give you at least one month's notice and let you leave without penalty. If the rise was clearly set out when you signed, you do not get that right.
Enter a quote's rise as "April rise (£/month)", for example £3.00. We add it every April during the contract, so a £29.99 deal starting in October 2026 with a £3 April rise costs £791.76 over 24 months.
